Unlike other products and goods that need to be replaced after a certain amount of time there is no shelf life for lingerie. So if you take good care of your intimate apparel, it should last you for years to come.
After you have read the tag on your leather or vinyl lingerie (the most accurate way to know the proper care for each individual piece of intimate apparel is found right on the tag) and you have also read about General Care for Lingerie, then you should also know material specific maintenance for lingerie. Caring for Vinyl LingerieVinyl lingerie should be stored in a garment bag, away from other apparel. Vinyl lingerie should only washed by hand. Use warm water with only a small amount of detergent. Vinyl lingerie should be hung inside out to dry, and then turned out so the outer (vinyl) side can dry. Different colors of vinyl should be washed separately (darker colors tend to bleed onto lighter colors.) Caring for Leather LingerieLeather lingerie should be stored outside of the garment bag, and in a well ventilated area. Remove small stains from leather lingerie with a cleaner like saddle soap, and rely on a professional dry cleaner for bigger stains. A wet or damp piece of leather lingerie should be air dried away from any source of heat or excessive sunlight. You should ocassionally polish leather lingerie, with a quality leather polish, to keep the leather looking its best.
